I think I may have to quit hanging out with Erin. Every time I do, I end up wet, muddy and washing clothes that I contemplated throwing out…

To my kids shock and horror, I spent Halloween with Vanessa (remember…E.V. Scott Photography) and Erin on Sweet Home Plantation. Who could turn down a Halloween themed wedding?

I had spent most of the morning, as I’m sure the bride, Rachel, did, checking the radar and that rain was supposed to be out of there by 5; by 3 according to the groom, Dash. If rain on your wedding day is supposed to bring luck, then the heaven’s opened up and bestowed this wonderful couple with a life of joy and bliss that few will ever receive. And I applaud them for not letting a little weather cramp their day. Rachel and Dash were troopers.

And, I have to agree with Vanessa, watching them stand in the rain and exchange their vows with smiles on their faces was one of the most romantic things I have ever witnessed. I had a difficult time distinguishing tears from raindrops.

Marriage is fraught with moments of compromise and making the best of bad situations. It does my heart good to see a couple take what could be a tragedy, face it head on with humor and spend the day laughing and enjoying their love for one another.

Well, there are some definite pluses to all the rain we have been having. I have never personally seen Hightower Falls this full. It was just stunning. And beautiful. And, thankfully, the closer you get to the falls, the less the cold wind rattles your teeth…

Marcela and Ryan braved the cold for our long overdue engagement session (Marcela had won my free engagement session at the bridal show in February). We seemed to be battling the elements every time we scheduled a session. I’m so thankful a little cold…okay…really cold weather didn’t stop them from making a trek out to the falls with me.

First things first…

Have you ever seen a cuter couple? Ever? And while there are some obvious height differences, their smiles are so similar. Absolutely adorable!

Shortly after this in the old grist mill, we had a friend drop in…I swear I’m going to look and see if we caught him in any other pictures. We had thought the little blue-tailed lizard had disappeared, but he liked Ryan so much! I’m happy he didn’t drop his tail (like they tend to do) in Ryan’s shirt…I’m sure that’s a testament to Ryan’s character.

Unfortunately, they are getting married too far away for me to hope to get to photograph their wedding next July, but they are so ahead of the game in planning. I can’t wait to see their wedding pictures!

Back to editing I go. Hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek, and I’ll keep an eye out for our friend…

George is not happy.

Could it be because we have been sick since last Friday and therefore didn’t go to the City-Wide Yard Sale?

Could it because that the crud seems to have coated his lungs overnight?

Could it be because his sister, who still is running a fever, is cranky and hits him periodically to make herself feel better?

Could it be because his mom, who is also sick, won’t run out to get him hash browns?

Could it be because this means we won’t get to go up to TN tomorrow and see Nana and Paw Paw?

Or could it possibly be because his mom is ticking him off because she gets to use the big camera and he never gets to touch it?

It’s a conundrum, I tell you…

It just became October if you didn’t catch the date this morning, and there is definitely a chill in the air. And what does a girl’s thoughts turn to…

The HOLIDAYS! Go hang out at the new site, and see all the new 2009 holiday card designs in the portfolio. You know your going to want to send out cards, and what grandma doesn’t require pictures? And the envelopes will already have your return address and name on them. That just leaves writing out who they are to. Crazy easy.

Each greeting card is fully customizable for this holiday season…

Cards are regularly $3 per flat card or $4 per folded, available in regular card-stock, linen, watercolor, and pearl (metallic-like) finishes.

*Holiday Mini Session Special*

One family session up to 1 hr. w/ 25 flat customized Holiday Greeting Cards

All for $100

( that’s just shy of a free session! )

* All sessions must be scheduled BY Thanksgiving and orders placed by Dec.5 *

Call and schedule your session soon…as all advertisers will tell you, the season goes so fast!

And just a couple other things to note…

Tallapoosa Primary School is holding its Fall Festival tonight. Come out and show your support. Your almost guaranteed to have a good time.

And don’t forget, the Tallapoosa City Wide Yard Sale is Saturday. I’m going to try and get out early this year and see if I can limit the number of chilluns in tow…Who knows, maybe I can get some pictures this year if not some neat little baubles and trinkets. And coats…must get some coats. The autumn chill always sneaks up on me and 3 of the herd need new coats.

So I just turned another year older…age is my excuse for not having a proper post about Georgie turning 2. That and school has just turned the world upside down…

There’s also a new Oomph website in the works. It’s agonizing going through my work. I hate everything one day and then I love it the next. Okay. Some I just continue hating, because I see what I did wrong or how I could have done better. This is especially true when I look at how I photograph now versus two years ago.

That’s right. I have only been photographing for two years. I snapped pictures willy nilly for most of my life, but I never really thought about it before. I now agonize over it. Every detail. How light falls. I mentally take a image almost constantly. I have almost quit taking snapshots, purely because I am too much of a perfectionist. I’m trying to remember that sometimes an image is just an image. I don’t know if I can go back.

I dream about photographing and editing constantly. And I like it. I love having days and nights filled with it. When I say this is my passion, I really should say obsession. I am constantly pushing myself to try and make it sharper or softer or catch the light so it illuminates this aspect or hides that flaw. And I continue to find the limits of my knowledge. I feel old. I feel I missed out on all those year up to age 30 when I could have learned all of this more quickly because I didn’t have children and my brain waves were younger.

But here I am. Nothing like my younger self thought it would be.

Initially, I wanted to be a dancer. I love dancing, but I knew I wasn’t ever going to be over 5′4″ (I thought you had to be 5′8″) and we could never afford lessons…

And then there was my bid for the Presidency…yeah, I’m not really much for public speaking and I can’t lie to save my life, but I definitely have some opinions…

Maybe a writer…well, my spelling issues nixed that for me and if you have hung around this blog for long enough, you can see the other reason…

An architect? Well…Adore houses, but I can’t draw a straight line and my math skills are atrocious…

A trumpet player…Now, I love playing trumpet. One of the best days of my life was when I was paid to do it. I knew then that no matter what I did, my “career” would be doing something I loved and was passionate about. Getting paid to do what you love is like eating candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never gaining weight or cavities. But I’m not a very good trumpet player. I can’t triple tongue and I just could never really get my head around practicing by myself.

A conductor…This was after I discovered my playing limitations. I did the drum major thing and I think that cured me of ever wanting to be in charge of a group of people who thought they knew more than me and could do it twice as well. Which actually was great lessons for parenting. That and the voice. You know what I mean if you’ve heard it pop out when the herd has gone astray. Comes in handy for large groups of people…

A librarian…My second passion in life is books. I love the way they smell, the weight of them, how they feel, their typeset…and then they entertain and teach you. I could go broke, and nearly have, with buying books. When I am really into a book, I can’t see straight. It’s the end all be all in my universe. My kids are catching the fever, too. But being a librarian is a whole lotta school. More than I think I can do, given age and financial circumstances. You need a good book recommendation, though, just ask…

A comic shop owner…well, that may still come to pass…

And here we are. Granted there were a few other paths I’ve looked down; Philosophy, Theology, Research Assistant, Massage Therapist. But this is what works. And I’m insanely happy. Stressed. Yes. Anxious. Yes. Deliriously content. I’m there.

This would be where I should post a picture of myself…just ain’t happening. That whole perfectionist thing. I’m still very outwardly a work in progress. So here’s another…just because she said I needed to blog.

So there…

Twitter me (revel in the minute to minute),

Flickr me (there’s always more pictures there),
